Mar del Plata is a destination that you live at your own pace. You choose the speed, the breaks and which part of the city you find most exciting. It can be the beach. It can be downtown, the Güemes area, the beach resorts... What is clear is that Mar del Plata has something special that you can feel with all your senses. The smell, the taste, the sound, the taste, the touch. All of them are enhanced when you are in a place where time follows you and not the other way around. There are few who would not answer "yes" to going to a place where they feel calm. That is why no one has yet told us that they would not return to a place where they feel calm. Petit Caféof the boutique hotel La Casa del Balcón. We have already told you about their hotel proposal in this articlebut now we will focus on the soul of La Casa del Balcón: Petit Café. A café/restaurant where magic just happens.

The cultural proposal of La Casa del Balcón allows the diner to enjoy a lovely afternoon of workshops and different artistic proposals to the rhythm of specialty coffee, sweet bites and equally tempting savory options. History and hospitality are in the air. A wonderful combination. The Belle Époque atmosphere envelops you. We could perfectly put on a costume and play that we are in ancient times.

Location

The Balcony House is located in the distinguished district of La Perla de Mar del PlataThe building is located on the foundational block of the city. In itself, it is a a mansion more than 100 years old, declared Cultural and Architectural Heritage by the Municipality of General Pueyrredón.

Natalia and Salma: Directing yes, but with love

One of the most charming aspects of The Balcony House has to do with who is in charge of the concept and the team: Natalia and Salma, mother and daughter. They make a great effort because every detail is where it should be and feels that way. Now this house receives tourists and is a sublime meeting point for locals. Everyone who wants something new knows that The Balcony House and its proposal Petit Café is a good idea. Because it offers quality products with good tastebut also intimacy, connection, culture and flavor. It is a real "time travel". Only suitable for those who are not afraid to dream.

Specialty coffee

The specialty coffee is the focus of the concept of Petit Café. It is open all day, so it has a wide gastronomic proposal to cover all the schedules and satisfy multiple palates. But the coffee... It is the coffee. Americano, with cream, with milk, cappuccino, caramel macchiato, espresso, espresso tonic of La Casa. In each variant, you find an excuse to come back. And even more so with such an artistic presentation. There are also take-home options, such as the Colombia Double Fermentation BATUTA room, the Colombia Honey Double Fermentation room and the Colombia Washed BATUTA room.

You can drink coffee on its own or accompany it with a sweet suggestion. One is better than the other. The first visit is a good time to try the alfabrownie with dulce de leche fillingthe second to let yourself be enchanted by the almond alfajor with white chocolate and berriesthe third for berries and lemon cheesecake and the rest... You'll have to find out by watching your letter. Since its pistachio cheesecake to your Nutella cookiethrough its red velvet cookie with pistachio cream and red berry reduction and its croissant filled with dulce de leche are worthwhile.

If you prefer infusions, there are also some with a proposal that is hard to refuse. Imported strands with flavors that can only be found in The Balcony HouseHarmony (Pu Erh Red Tea base with blue mallow flowers from Eastern Europe, red hibiscus and exotic jasmine from China) steals the breath away and Oriente Chai (blend based on Aassam Black Tea, from the eastern plains of India with colorful masala of special characteristics such as: cinnamon, chopped, Madagascar vanilla, red pepper, ginger, cloves and light petals "bluets") is impressive.

Lunch or brunch, you decide

la-casa-del-balcon

When we said that Mar del Plata is a destination that goes at your pace we meant it. The Balcony House is a great example with proposals for brunches homemade dishes, menu of the day, light lunches and balanced snacks. Among its savory dishes for lunch, we find vegetable and ricotta cannelloni, hamburgers, pizzas, salads and daily menus that rotate continuously (you have to go several times to not feel like you're missing out).

For brunch, the "brunch for two" option is notorious, with 1 avocado toast with poached egg, cherry and cream cheese scented with lemon; 1 cookie of the day; 1 cheese scon with caprese filling; 1 red fruit petit cheesecake; 2 teas of your choice; 1 amancay mocktail: pineapple, passion fruit, turmeric, honey and sparkling water and 1 olive mocktail: green apple, cucumber, lemon, syrup, sparkling water.

Surrounding cultural environment

As for the atmosphere, it is warm, cozy and cultural. It is distributed in a first floor and three floors. The first floor has a terrace, reception and cafeteria, while the second floor has a more cultural touch with space for events and more cafeteria tables, a mini terrace, the house's characteristic balcony overlooking the street, a piano and works of art displayed on the walls that rotate continuously. The third and fourth floors are dedicated to the boutique hotel area, with a period library.

At Petit Caféto "go for a coffee" is to give oneself up to a distinct experiencewith flashes of luxury. The story of The Balcony House is everywhere. It is a house that originally belonged to the family of María V. de Larco and Emilio Jaúregui, dating from 1921. Another highlight of the environment and the aesthetic part is the vine that runs through the establishment, which takes ocher and reddish tones in autumn. It follows a neo-colonial line, with distinctive traits of Mar del Plataevoking the Asturian rural houses.

Different experiences

Within the dynamism offered by The Balcony House with its art exhibitions and quality gastronomy, the proposal expands towards immersive experiences with limited time, such as dinners with theater plays, sushi and jazz nights, private dinners with limited seating, cafest on the first floor terrace with DJ and live bands... Not to mention the private events that can be held in its facilities, such as quinceañeras, weddings, communions or company meetings.

What started out as a "cafecito" has today become a meeting point where the luxury, culture and gastronomy embrace each other in a unique concept.
