There are different reasons why a person decides to dye their hair. Gray hair, trying something new, important events, characterization for movies... The reality is that, with any color change, something is altered inside and outside the person. Our empowerment is activated on the basis of a healthy, shiny and glamorous hair. However, after leaving the salon, doubts begin to emerge about how to hair care. When we modify the usual parameters of our hair, we generate change and innovation. But if we don't take proper care of it, we can damage it and run into devastating results, not at all what we were looking for. To avoid falling into common mistakes, we talked with Néstor Cornejo, owner and stylist of NC Stylethe Mar del Plata's most exclusive hair salon. She has told us all the tricks to keep our hair looking perfect, even with coloring, bleaching and straightening.

Tips for caring for color-treated hair

Many inquiries come in to the NC Style On hair care after coloring or bleaching. "Nowadays, the formaldehyde-free nourishing treatments are the best for natural hair or color-treated hair that is not often colored. Almost all of them are composed of stem cells, argan oil... Different nutrients to give your hair the shine and softness it loses when changing color," says the hairdresser. Two of the most common consequences are the "fast washout" of the new color or the loss of hair shine.

What about the balayage and reflections? Nestor cautions us that these cases are more complicated because they involve discolorations. "The hair becomes porous or dry. People who ask me want to know how to nourish it more. Sometimes they are wrong. They do shocks keratin or straightening treatments, thinking that this will solve the problem, but it's not like that. When you do a deco, you don't have to do any treatment with formaldehyde because that dries it out even more," she points out.

How to care for straightened hair

Another of the most demanded services in NC Style is the smoothingservice that also leads to a lot of questions. "Most people are afraid that the hair will dry out and thin, which is a great truth. By doing it too often, it thins and falls out. With certain regularity, formaldehyde ends up being harmful or the hair is damaged by the presence of several treatments", expresses the professional with more than 20 years of experience.

But is there formaldehyde-free straighteningWhat I always explain to them is that, first of all, it is a very expensive product. Also, the person has to have hair without any type of bleaching because it can burn. I always ask if they have had any previous treatments, highlights or color done. If someone wants to have a straightening, I recommend that it should be a few times a year or only once a year to maintain hair health. Treatments with different types of nutrition, stem cells and types of oils should also be performed," he said.

Taking care of your hair is a matter of commitment and personal responsibility.

The dyed hair is a tangible way of manifesting changes in style and personality. Without proper maintenance, color can fade quickly and hair can end up looking dry, brittle and lifeless. Maintaining healthy, vibrant color requires special care. Many times, this care only comes after proper "research". Something as simple as consulting your trusted stylist can make the difference between an attractive result and one you never wanted.

The passage of time has brought innovation, but also myths that can ruin a job well done. Taking care of your hair is all about using quality products and follow the guidelines of experts such as NC Style.
